The Surprised. I took this photo in the central business district of Melbourne. The three surprised-looking men are situated at the busiest corner in Melbourne, the intersection of Swanston and Bourke Streets, positioned as if they are about to cross the road with great trepidation.
The work is called ‘Three Businessmen Who Brought Their Own Lunch: Batman, Swanston and Hoddle’, by Alison Weaver and Paul Quinn. The figures pay tribute to three of Melbourne’s pioneers of the 19th century, as if they have returned as pedestrians, surprised at the developments that have occurred.
